If there is a better, more beautiful, and more ecologically
diverse place to paddle than Costa Rica, we haven’t found
it. With miles of uncrowded beaches, stunningly beautiful rain
forests, active and inactive volcanoes, dense tropical jungles,
and one of the world’s largest mangrove ecosystems, Costa
Rica offers views of Eden that ecologically-minded tourists
will find both amazing and compelling.
Costa Rica is a country that recognizes and values its biodiversity
and delicate ecosystems. Over 20% of its land is protected as
a park or preserve. It is the poster child of how to get it
right and to make sustainable eco-tourism a major part of its
economy. Unlike the political climate in some Central American
countries, Costa Rica is a long standing and stable democracy.
It eliminated its military in the 1940’s and today prides
itself on having more teachers than police. It enjoys a high
literacy rate, low crime rate, and has the highest standards
of living and the best medical facilities in Central America.
The people are hard working, family-oriented, and tourist-friendly.
Given its environment and stability, it is no wonder Costa Rica
is a top eco-tourist destination in the world.
Because of its relatively small size (about the size of West
Virginia) Costa Rica offers paddlers the opportunity to experience
a great variety of paddling environments without traveling great
distances. Low impact kayaking allows for up close and personal
experiences with the country’s flora and fauna without
degrading the natural environment. We’ll guide you on
a multi-day adventure which will allow you to experience Costa
Rica’s rich natural environment and to build memories
that will last a lifetime.
