Connect with Costa Rica Kayak Tour Van approx. 2pm and
travel to Cartago (former capital)for a brief lunch stop
and then approx. 4 hour trip over the mountains and down
to the Pacific highway at Dominical . Evening dinner at
Hotel Villas Gaia |

Monday |
| |
After breakfast, you have morning rest period to stroll
the grounds or to take a dip in the pool. After lunch,
a trip orientation and half day paddle in the Terraba
River. Evening return to hotel and dinner. |

Tuesday |

After breakfast, second half day paddle in the Terraba.
Box lunch at the take-out. Return to hotel for rest, relaxation,
and dinner. |

Wednesday |
| |
Early breakfast and travel to Sierpe for a down river
power boat trip through the mangroves to a Pacific ocean
beach. Swim and snorkel. Take the boat to Isla del Cano
for exploring or snorkeling. Lunch provided at the beach.
Travel back to Sierpe. You are free to explore the area.
Dinner at Italian restaurant in Sierpe. |

Thursday |
| |
After breakfast in Sierpe we’ll travel downriver
by motor launch with kayaks to the mangroves. We do a
morning paddle in the mangroves with a guide. There is
much to observe in this unique ecosystem. Paddle back
to Sierpe or be picked up depending on the tidal current.
After lunch in Sierpe, travel by van to the Valley of
the Diquis to examine the mysterious stone spheres found
in the area. |

Friday |

After breakfast, we will travel to two waterfalls, meet
the indigenous people (Boruca) and have lunch with a Boruca
family. In the afternoon we’ll watch the Boruca
carve their famous devil masks and view a variety of masks
danced at the Danse Diablo Festivals. We’ll do a
late afternoon paddle near the boca of the Terraba, where
it enters the Pacific ocean and have dinner at a nearby
restaurant. |

Saturday |
| |
After breakfast, we’ll paddle in the Upper Sierpe.
We will paddle the main river as well as more jungle intense
side streams. This is perhaps our most wildlife intense
paddles with caimans, macaws, snakes, iguanas and lizards
as well as three species of monkeys. You’ll want
a camera for this one. In the afternoon we will return
to Sierpe for lunch and to pack our bags for the trip
back to San Jose. We will fly back to the San Jose area
from Palmar South airport in the later afternoon and check
into our hotel. Saturday evening we will have a goodbye
dinner and trip evaluation. |

Hotel will provide shuttles to the airport for those
flying home. Hotel can arrange tours for those wishing
to extend their stay or to help you rent a car for a self
guided tour of the Central Valley and beyond. |
